24 Hour Fitness Northgate has unreliable staff
...so don't join if you plan to use Kids Club.
I just quit my membership after being stood up by the babysitter there for the umpteenth time. If there's no babysitter, I don't get to work out. I spend more than 45 minutes getting myself ready, Elliott ready, and driving to the gym, only to be told when I get there that the sitter is out today, sorry, no workout for you. Sometimes they offer me a free babysitting session in the future, sometimes they don't. This time they didn't.
And, for the record, they make quitting pretty painful too. You can't quit at the gym itself. You have to call a number and wait on hold for a long time. Then, you finally get a non-English speaking customer service rep who offers you a bunch of "incentives" to stay, all of which are available to the general public at any time. Then they remind you that your contract states that if you don't give 30 days' notice, they charge you for one additional month at the end of your membership. So I said, "How about you don't charge me that additional month, and then I won't tell all my friends how angry I am with 24 Hour's poor reliability?" They didn't go for that, so here I am, telling you, I'm angry with 24 Hour's poor reliability. Don't join.
