Trick or treat
My dad and I took Elliott trick-or-treating for Halloween tonight. Elliott had an Elmo costume, but he didn't want to put it on, so he carried it with him. We went next door to Mike and Roberta's, my parents' neighbors for the last twenty years or so. Roberta answered the door. I prompted Elliott to say "trick or treat," but even though he had practiced all afternoon he choked when the pressure was on, and said, "Mommy mommy mommy!" and buried his head in my shoulder.
We took a little walk down the block and repeated the performance at Robin's house, and then headed home.
Maybe next year we'll do better for candy, but it's hard to beat this for cute.
